Spring/Summer 2015 Collection by Ferm Living inspired by Green Living

And just like that, we are in 2015! And even though we’re still in the middle of the winter (at least here in Western Europe), the design industry is preparing for spring and summer! As Urban Jungle Bloggers we love to see the green movement spreading around the globe. Yet another example is the brand new spring/summer 2015 collection by Danish design label ferm LIVING.

Urban Jungle Bloggers Ferm Living SS15
The upcoming season ferm LIVING introduces more objects for green living. Urban Jungle Bloggers will love their new concrete pots in beautiful colors and significant plant walls with both a functional and sculptural objective. And for the flowers they offer their collect vases, which can be used one by one or together as a modern object.

I think we all agree if we conclude: Let us have more ‘green living’ in 2015!

#UJBXMAS fourth winner: Ilaria Fatone

UJBXMAS-banner
Our fourth and final winner of the #UJBXMAS photo contest on Instagram is Ilaria Fatone from Un Due Tre Ilaria. She has been posting so many festive and green pictures this month, we just couldn’t (and didn’t want to!) ignore it. Of course, we also asked her a few questions about green decoration during the holidays.

UJBXMAS-winner-UnduetreIlaria-3We loved your green festive ideas for #UJBXMAS. Now we are looking to New Year’s Eve – will you have any specific green decor ready for that festive night?

Once Christmas is over I always put away the decorations, but I keep all the garlands’ lights. I asked my mother to bring me some mistletoe and holly from our country home. They both add a festive green touch. I still have the pine tree branches I used as a tiny Christmas tree and now that the Christmas decorations are gone I like to put just the lights on. We won’t spend the New Year’s Eve at home but this simple decor will stay with us for the next couple of weeks to keep the festive feeling going.

UJBXMAS-winner-UnduetreIlaria-2What is your green tip for the start into a new year?

Make your home a jungle inside. We tend to wait until Spring to concentrate on plants because we can do it outdoors, but wintertime is also a good time for it. I like moving things around at home. Move your plants around as well! The spots they have during the sunnier months might not be suitable anymore at this time of the year. I also like to cut little branches from the succulents I keep in our window sills and have them grow in vases at home, sort of little green « bouquets ». At Spring they will be ready to be put in a pot and start their new life !

UJBXMAS-winner-UnduetreIlaria-1What do you wish for in 2015?

I try not to put too much pressure on 2015 but I have a couple of things I truly wish. For the first time in a very long time I do what I love as a living and I’m working hard to make my Interior Styling business grow bigger and bigger, to keep the balance I have between my family life and my professional activity and, last but not least, to keep inspiring people with my blog.

Merci Ilaria!
You can see more of Ilaria on Un Due Tre Ilaria and her Instagram.

We’d like to thank everyone for inspiring us this month on Instagram. There were so many beautiful green contributions, it was a feast for our eyes and green souls to choose a winner every Monday. Thank you very much for that! We will be back soon with a fresh new January topic (you can still subscribe here if you want to hear about it first), but for now: let’s celebrate New Year’s Eve! See you in 2015!

#UJBXMAS third winner: Hipaholic

UJBXMAS-bannerThis week’s winner of our #UJBXMAS photo contest on Instagram is an obvious one. It was hard to miss her colorful vintage ornaments and succulents on Instagram this week. Without further ado: it is Anuschka, stylist and photographer from Hipaholic! We asked her a few questions about her green and colorful holiday decoration.

#UJBXMAS Hipaholic

Where did your love for vintage ornaments come from?

I love vintage stuff in general. I guess my love for vintage ornaments comes from the seventies when I was a child and we had those ornaments in the Christmas tree. It brings me back to those days. I also love the colors and details of the vintage ornaments. I’ve been collecting them for years. I found most of my ornaments at Marktplaats (Dutch Craigslist), thrift shops or I get them from friends. My favorite is a set of houses and the box where they are in. I love the neon colors and the glitters on them.

#UJBXMAS Hipaholic

Do you have more green Christmas decoration at home?

Yes! I don’t have a tree this year, but I have put a couple of pine branches in a vintage vase. I also decorated a mini cactus just for fun, like the one above. And I also created these cute mini wreaths:

#UJBXMAS Hipaholic

What do you wish for 2015?
My wish for 2015 is that I can continue doing what I do with Hipaholic now: make a lot of nice pics and inspire others!

Thank you Anuschka!

#UJBXMAS second winner: Gitte Christensen

UJBXMAS-bannerWe are happy to announce the second winner of our #UJBXMAS photo contest on Instagram – the winner is stylist and shop owner Gitte Christensen from Objects & Use. We loved the Nordic vibe in her styling featuring a Christmas tree and lots of indoor plants. And we asked Gitte a few questions to share with all of us:

UJBXMAS-winner-Gitte-ObjectsUse1Can you tell us more about your Christmas styling?

The wining photo with the Christmas tree is from my design office “LOFT03” in Copenhagen. We had a Christmas party for friends and clients last week. The theme here is lots of white plus grey-blue styling props and lots of green plants. All the ornaments on the tree are white porcelain. We have a pile of green plants in all our window sills all year round, but they look nice together with the classic christmas tree. White hyacinths are giving a white touch to the green plants. And grey and white enamel cups keep the clean theme.

UJBXMAS-winner-Gitte-ObjectsUse2What is your Christmas decor tip with plants from a stylist’s perspective?

Keep it simple with the colours – on these christmas deco there is only used white and grey blues to make the green plants stand out. Put green plants you already have together in a plant family – to make a little christmas forrest.

UJBXMAS-winner-Gitte-ObjectsUse3What do you wish for 2015?

I wish for more great styling jobs and meeting new interesting people.

Thank you Gitte!
You can see more of Gitte on Objects & Use and her Instagram.

#UJBXMAS first winner: Aentschie!

UJBXMAS-banner

We are happy to announce our first #UJBXMAS winner! It’s Anja from Aentschie’s blog. She created a gorgeous Advent wreath with a twist and a lot of beautiful succulents, candles, dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks… Of course we asked Anja a few questions about her green festive decoration.

UJBXMAS-winner-Aentschie

Can you tell us a bit more about your Advent wreath?

This wreath is very easy to make. I used some little succulents from the gardening center and some succulent babies that I got from my mother. I put them together into a big bowl and planted them into special succulent soil and tiny clay balls. I let some space between the plants for the candles and for adding Christmas decor (you can see the full tutorial on my blog).
I wanted to combine modern plants like succulents with traditional Christmas elements. Besides, I wanted to create something sustainable so that after Christmas I can remove the Christmas decor from the succulent wreath and have a wonderful plant bowl which is not related to this season anymore. And for other holidays like Easter, I can simply add some other decor.

Do you have more green Christmas decoration at home?

Of course I have a Christmas tree and I like decorating it with natural elements, paper stars and paper garlands rather than with any glittery things. I don’t have special Christmas plants, but I involved all of my plants in my Christmas decoration, for example the flowerbeds are decorated with some pretty bows.

What do you wish for 2015?

For 2015 I wish everything to stay as good as it is and I look forward for spring to turn my balcony into a green jungle again!

Thank you Anja!
You can see more from Anja on Aentschie’s Blog and her Instagram.
