International Plant Appreciation Day with Evrgreen + giveaway

Did you know that today is the “International Plant Appreciation Day”? Well as real plant lovers you might celebrate that day everyday just like us. But it is nice to highlight our green friends on a special day like today. And to make the celebration even more special for you, dear Urban Jungle Bloggers, we have teamed up with Evrgreen, a Cologne based plant webshop, founded by two young guys, Jan and Philip, who have decided to bring more happy greens into the homes of their clients.

To celebrate the ‘International Plant Appreciation Day’ together with Evrgreen and you all, we have opted for a pretty quirky plant that regularly gains your interest on Urban Jungle Bloggers: the Tillandsia or airplant. This is a genus of more than 700 species of blooming plants from Central and South America and bordering regions. They belong to the family of Bromeliaceae and most of them are epiphytes, that means they grow without soil by being attached to other plants. These quirky fellows have also become very popular houseplants for their unique looks and their minimal requirements regarding plant care: no soil needed, no plant pots needed, just air, light and some regular misting or a thorough bath in water!

Display your airplants with Etairnity + Giveaway

Airplants or Tillandsia are perfect plants for everyone who wants to inject some quick greens in the home without facing all the hassle of potting, repotting, finding adequate planters, finding space for the plant pots etc. Airplants are so easy and simple, they are actually a perfect way to start a little urban jungle if you are still reluctant with new plants in your home.

Airplants are called that way because all they seem to need is air. They are rootless and need not to be put into soil. You just keep them like that – the only requirement they have is to either spray them with water from time to time or let them sit in water for approximately one hour per week. You can also use a liquid fertilizer to spray on them from time to time. That’s all! But you don’t want your airplants to be scattered around your home just like that – you want them displayed properly. And that’s where Etairnity comes into play!

As Urban Jungle Bloggers few of us will have a proper garden shed. But we can dream of one, right? Many of us have creative corners at home, workplaces where we get new ideas, where we style and decorate. The new book ‘Shed Decor’ by Sally Coulthard is another title you should add to your interior loving (and plant loving) library – no matter whether you have a garden shed or not.

The book’s subtitle reads: How to decorate and furnish your favorite garden room. Some of you might be lucky enough to have a garden room, others will dream of a garden room when reading this book (if you don’t dream of one already). The book gives inspiration and ideas how to decorate and furnish outdoor rooms and garden sheds to create beautiful and useable living or work spaces.

The book is structured in two parts – the first showcases various shed decor styles while the second deals with shed decor basics. Each style section is accompanied by an ‘Essentials’ section with shopping tips to easily recreate the style in your own shed and case studies to give you a real-life idea. The shed decor basics part features all elements of interior styling spanning from fabrics, flooring, walls, furniture and more.

Go Green with IKEA & Urban Jungle Bloggers

Springtime is all about the awakening of the nature. And it is the right moment to bring more greens into your homes, onto your balconies, terraces, in your greenhouses and windowsills. Yes, we want you to go green all the way! For that ‘green mission’ we have teamed up with IKEA Germany and we want you all to be part of the green fun!

IKEA Germany has launched its brand new outdoor collection with a fantastic range of products for small urban indoor gardens, large balconies and spacious greenhouses and gardens. We both had our go and styled up our places to give you some inspiration how you could bring in more greens into your own home. But we do not want to teach you. We think you have way more you can show us – and we will not leave you without a reward.

IKEA Germany and the Urban Jungle Bloggers are happy to host an Instagram styling challenge. We want to invite you all to join in and share your picture(s) with any kind of IKEA product (really whatever you have at home, be it a shelf, a table, a vase, a plant pot etc.) and plant(s).
